Dominating South Africa... One Month Left...

Hey everyone!

If you're reading this, you've somehow found my blog a bit early (it's August whilst i'm writing this) and i now think you're possibly stalking me (if you're female and hot - then i won't complain) or you've got WAY too much time on your hands. If it's not that... then it's probably September and i'm broadcasting this link everywhere, and you're now privy to the profound and sometimes outrageously smutty travel blogs that i've grown accustomed to writing for everyone back home! Welcome - pull up a stool and chow down on this sumptuous literary meal.

If you've no idea what i'm on about, check out the link on the left of this page, and read through my US blog that i expertly crafted this time last year. At the end of that i said i wanted to go to Iceland next... well... essentially i lied. Not a big dirty lie like the classic "Oh, i'll call you - i'll DEFINITELY call you - we've got something special baby, it was an amazing night" after a regrettable night (and morning after) on the lash.

No no, it's more a white lie... like when you tell your friends about the "stunner" from last night (probably the same one from the dirty lie above) - no-one gets hurt, so all is well. Not that i've ever done that though...

Iceland has morphed into South Africa!! That's global warming for you folks. And it's South Africa that will receive the special Aaron treatment this time around. USA? Pah, done that - 27 states in 10 weeks? No problem. This is a bit more of a challenge. Though thankfully there'll be no goddamn Greyhound buses this time around... i hope...

So, this is a bit of a prologue to the trip, like i did for the US really - where i'm going, what i'm planning on doing etc. And the big difference this time?? No, not the fact i'm going Africa - well pointed out sunshine, but the fact that i won't be travelling alone! Yes, the rambling nomad has a travelling buddy this time around - my oldest and dearest mate, Vijay. So it's double the carnage and chaos this time around. If what me and Hannerz got upto in Vegas last year is anything to go by... this should be a blistering 3 weeks.

The itinerary?? Still pretty rough, and we're almost totally playing it by ear, but highlights SHOULD include...

  • Diving with the Great White Sharks in Cape Town and Gansbaai.
  • Bungee jumping from the world's highest bungee bridge at Bloukrans (216m up).
  • A 4 day safari in Kruger National Park.
  • Avoiding being eaten by hippos, crocodiles, leopards, baboons etc...
  • Possibly eating those animals in some bizarre circle of life.
  • Getting all cultural with the Zulu natives and Swazi's.
  • Hopefully not getting malaria.
  • Lots and lots and LOTS of crazed tales - which will, ofcourse be retold for you guys, girls and inbetweeners.

So, on that note, i'm going to while away the next month of my life and get rid of this Master's Degree... then the fun begins. Speak to you when i touch down in Cape Town on the 7th September!!

Much love,

Aaron x
